Install the app

Cinaura is distributed as a signed APK on GitHub. There’s no Play Store listing yet, but sideload takes about two minutes.

The latest release is always at:

github.com/jrmux/cinaura-release/tags

Grab the most recent cinaura-vX.Y.Z.apk from the top of the list.

  1. Enable installation from unknown sources on your TV. Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources. Toggle on the file manager or browser you’ll use to install.

  2. Move the APK to the TV. Easiest options:

    • Plug a USB stick with the APK directly into the TV.
    • Use Send Files to TV over Wi-Fi.
    • Use a file manager like X-plore on the TV to download directly from the GitHub release page.
  3. Open the APK with the file manager. Tap Install when prompted.

  4. Launch Cinaura from the Android TV launcher. The first run shows a calm setup screen, with no account required.

If you’d rather skip the file-manager dance, use the Downloader app by AFTVnews. It’s free, available on the Play Store, and lets you install an APK directly from a short numeric code.

  1. Install Downloader on your Android TV from the Play Store.

  2. Open Downloader and enter the latest Cinaura release code in the URL field. Codes are posted with every new release on the r/cinauratv subreddit; check the most recent release post.

  3. Press Go. Downloader fetches the APK and prompts you to install. Tap Install when prompted.

  4. Launch Cinaura from the Android TV launcher.
